As we continue through the busyness of May, Mr. Horner eagerly anticipates celebrations and milestones and looks ahead to the 2024-2025 academic year. Below, he shares plans and exciting initiatives.

I often consider May the highlight of the year. Yes, it is certainly busy, but more so it offers culminations, celebrations, and joy-filled experiences, from Mission Day to Field Day, May Crowning to Prize Ceremonies. The Eighth Class Graduation Dinner, Maypole and Graduation are milestones.

May is also the time when early plans for the next year come into clearer focus. I am pleased to share the following developments.

Primary Class — The incoming Primary Class enrollment has grown and will therefore have two sections. Mrs. Murray and Ms. Cleveland (see below) will make a powerful set of teachers for our Primary students.

Interactive Touch Panel Teaching & Learning Technology — Each classroom will have an interactive touch panel and we are finalizing the order of 25 top-line models of Promethean Boards. Plans are in development to support our faculty in mastering this teaching and learning tool. We appreciate all Chemin de Fer supporters whose gifts made this possible.

Curriculum and Learning Coach — Dr. Peter Dry has already begun his work to support faculty as a dedicated individual who will help align best practices, strategies, and content. Students will benefit from continuing refinement of curriculum and pedagogy. If you see Dr. Dry on campus these last few weeks, please greet him with our warm Academy welcome.

Entrepreneurship — Entrepreneurship opportunities will exist for Third–Eighth Class students next year. The concept of entrepreneurship encompasses innovation, iteration, creativity, collaboration, and communication through a design-thinking process. Equipping students with these skills will prepare them to be future leaders.

Expanded After-School Offerings — We are exploring the possibility of a musical, the return of a Band Camp, and expanded athletic offerings in younger grades to add to our current offerings.

We began this year with the intent to create the best year ever, and it has been remarkable. Now we celebrate each student and culminating events, and look forward to making next year even better!
