Service in Action

February 12, 2021

Thank you to our Sixth Class students, teachers and Middle School principal, who braved the cold weather on Friday, Feb. 12 to serve at Heat-Up St. Louis at Hardees! Proceeds raised that morning supported Heat-Up St. Louis, an organization that helps people pay their heating bills and keep warm in the winter.

Beginning our Lenten Journey

February 12, 2021

Dear Academy families and friends,

On my desk I have a prayer card given at the 200th Anniversary Eucharistic Celebration of the establishment of the Society of the Sacred Heart in the United States (and the founding of our school). It reads from a letter sent by St. Rose Philippine Duchesne: “I am where God wills me to be, and so I have found rest and security. His wisdom governs me, His power defends me, His grace sanctifies me, His joy sustains me and all will go well with me.” Philippine knew in the depths of her soul that she was loved by God. Her faith is an example to each of us and the confidence that we associate with her comes from that absolute trust.

An Outpouring of Support for Alumni Christmas Basket Collection

January 8, 2021

“As a child at St. Charles and later as Assistant Principal, I loved our beautiful tradition of giving generously to those in need during the Christmas season. Thank you for organizing the alums so that we, too, could participate in this beautiful event.” — Mary Pat White, RSCJ ’59

We knew our 7th Annual Alumni Christmas Basket Collection would be different this year, but we were unprepared for the overwhelming generosity from alumni and parents of alumni! Nearly 900 items were delivered via our Amazon registry or dropped off in-person and $5,445 was raised to purchase an additional 3,700 items. On behalf of the Academy alumni, 83 baskets were contributed to the school’s overall effort, significantly impacting so many in our community!

#ShopASHalums

Did you know that when you #ShopSmall, you can also support Academy alums? Check out some of these businesses and #ShopASHalums! Most have an online store. Let’s show our alums some ASH love!

Joyful Advent Calendar

November 20, 2020

Dear Academy families,

In my home parish in New York there was a great tradition of following an Advent calendar to help us all prepare for the coming of Baby Jesus on Christmas Day. With so many traditions being put on hold due to COVID-19 precautions, I thought it might be nice to share this Advent activity as a way of bringing us together in prayer and joyful anticipation of the coming of Christ into the world.

Join Alumni for Day of Service on Nov. 14, 2020

November 2, 2020

For the past several years, alums have commemorated Philippine’s Feast (Nov. 18) with a Day of Service. Not only is this a community builder among alums, it is a direct expression of Goal 3 of Sacred Heart education: a social awareness which impels to action. In the past, our alums have served at area organizations as well as completed projects on the Academy’s campus.

For this unique year, we are planning projects on the Academy campus where we will be following our safety guidelines (temp checks, social distancing and mask wearing). We’ll begin at 8:30 a.m. with prayer in the Shrine, followed by coffee, juice and donuts in the Cafeteria. Projects will begin around 9 a.m.
