Solemnity of the Annunciation

March 25, 2021

Dear Academy families and friends,

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation.  On this day we recognize the Blessed Mother’s ‘yes.’  Visited by the archangel Gabriel, Mary is invited by God to become the mother of his only Son Jesus.  The Word made flesh.  The moment, through which, each of us became one with God, united in our humanity.

March for the Heart

March 19, 2021

To date, Academy alums have raised more than $21,000 for the 2020-21 Annual Fund. Now in its third year, March for the Heart, our Alumni Annual Fund Challenge, seeks to boost overall alum participation and gifts to the Annual Fund. Thanks to our generous Academy alums, last year we raised $10,207 during this 2-week campaign from nearly 100 donors!

A Year Ago This Week…

March 11, 2021

Dear Academy families and friends,

A year ago this week the bell was being rung to sound the impending arrival of COVID-19 in our region. As a school community we benefited from our membership in the Network of Sacred Heart Schools as colleagues in New York, Seattle and San Francisco shared what was happening in their areas. Their already lived reality helped us to prepare and shape our response.

Today I wish to express my gratitude to all and specifically signal the teachers who in the waning time before Spring Break gathered materials and prepared the students as well as themselves for the possibility of a mandated shutdown.

Students take an Active Role in Their Learning

March 11, 2021

Grounded in the work of Carol Dweck, Ph.D., student-led parent teacher conferences support the development of a growth mindset, or the student’s love of learning and the development of resilience needed for “great accomplishment.” These conversations between students, parents and teachers focus on student strengths, areas of opportunity and goals.

Raising Awareness Through Art

February 24, 2021

Eighth Class students recently completed an Art Installation for the David Shepard Wildlife Foundation that was featured in St. Charles County Lifestyle Magazine. This annual global art contest encourages student collaboration, ideation, and creativity, while allowing students the opportunity to display concern for our planet’s environment and the diverse wildlife that inhabits it.

Robot Revolution

February 15, 2021

Congratulations to the Academy Robotics team who had their first competition this past Saturday. The judges noted that the team demonstrated great teamwork when setting up for their presentation and were very well prepared for their presentation. Great job, Robotics team!

Service in Action

February 12, 2021

Thank you to our Sixth Class students, teachers and Middle School principal, who braved the cold weather on Friday, Feb. 12 to serve at Heat-Up St. Louis at Hardees! Proceeds raised that morning supported Heat-Up St. Louis, an organization that helps people pay their heating bills and keep warm in the winter.

Beginning our Lenten Journey

February 12, 2021

Dear Academy families and friends,

On my desk I have a prayer card given at the 200th Anniversary Eucharistic Celebration of the establishment of the Society of the Sacred Heart in the United States (and the founding of our school). It reads from a letter sent by St. Rose Philippine Duchesne: “I am where God wills me to be, and so I have found rest and security. His wisdom governs me, His power defends me, His grace sanctifies me, His joy sustains me and all will go well with me.” Philippine knew in the depths of her soul that she was loved by God. Her faith is an example to each of us and the confidence that we associate with her comes from that absolute trust.
