Second Class Word Surgeons

This week the Second Class classroom transformed into the Second Class OR! These word surgeons “scrubbed in” on contraction surgeries. The doctors (Second Class students) used their scalpels (scissors) and stitches (glue sticks) and bandages (pretend bandaids with apostrophes) to remove the letters that were no longer needed when they combined or “contracted” two words together. Their patients (words) were treated with care and will be used in sentences once they are fully recovered. The surgeons even learned about titles and how to abbreviate them as they signed their names as “Dr.” on their surgical records (packet of words). What a fun way to practice spelling words and to make the best of wearing masks in the classroom!!
