On Thursday Mr. Horner announced that Mary Dougherty Reepmeyer ’96 will become the Academy’s next Principal beginning July 1, 2024. She will follow Marcia Baronovic Renken ‘72, upon her retirement.

“Mrs. Reepmeyer’s candidacy was impressive in all she wrote and shared, in how she led and listened; she reinforced what we as a community have firsthand experienced,” Mr. Horner shared. “During the interview process, she wrote: ‘Our conversation further fueled my enthusiasm for the innovative programs and commitment to academic excellence which the Academy personifies.’”

Mrs. Reepmeyer received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Saint Louis University and master’s degree in education from Maryville University. Currently, she teaches Fourth Class and is in her 18th year at the Academy, where she is firmly dedicated to our mission as a Sacred Heart school. In addition, as an alumna Mrs. Reepmeyer holds an intrinsic passion and appreciation for her education. “It’s who I am,” she shared in her interview. She and her husband, Glenn, are parents of Aidan ’30, Rebecca ’32 and Lucas who will be a Little Acorn in the fall of 2024.

“I am unwaveringly confident that Mrs. Reepmeyer will foster deep success in the areas of importance that I shared as one of the major focus areas for candidates: fostering relationships,” Mr. Horner continued. “We as a school have benefited from Mrs. Renken’s dedicated and influential leadership; we are fortunate to transition from one great educator to our next. It is with a renewed anticipation for an ever-brighter future that I look forward to years of partnership with Mrs. Reepmeyer,” he concluded.

Mrs. Reepmeyer shared, “I am thrilled and honored to be appointed the next Principal at the Academy. I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity to continue the mission of Sacred Heart education and am excited and eager to carry on the legacy of love and learning that I received as a student here with each and every child at the Academy.” In addition, she is “humbled by the faculty, staff, and families past and present who have reached out with such warm congratulations and prayers for my transition. Your kind and thoughtful words have made this moment even more special.”

Congratulations to Mrs. Reepmeyer! We are excited for our community as we begin a new chapter of our Academy story.
