The New School Year
Academy students in Classes 1-8 returned on Wednesday, August 21, followed by Primary students the following day. On Monday, we’ll welcome our youngest students in Pre-Primary.
In a letter to school parents, Sister Glavin wrote: “So, with Philippine Duchesne, Madeleine Sophie Barat, Janet Erskine Stuart and Anna Mae Marheineke, I place this year, our students, our faculty, our staff and our parents in the Hands and Heart of God with the following prayer:
May the courage and fervor of Philippine
fill each of our souls.
May the clarity and wisdom of Sophie
fill each of our minds.
May the earnest pursuit of truth and beauty of Janet
fill each of our hearts.
And, may the passion for the education of children of Anna Mae
fill our classrooms and offices and hallways.

Academy Alumni Attend Missouri Scholars Academy
Four high school sophomores—Academy graduates from the Class of 2011—were chosen to represent their high schools at the Missouri Scholars Academy this summer at the University of Missouri–Columbia. They were enthusiastic participants and learned a lot during the three-week program June 9–29. Having FOUR from one elementary school class out of the 330 across Missouri was impressive. (One parent was overheard to say, “They must have come from a great school!”)
Congratulations to: (left to right in photo) Justine Kaemmerlen, Villa Duchesne; Athena Strother, Visitation Academy; Rachel Walker, St. Joseph’s Academy; and Jared Bohn, Barat Academy.
