This week, while getting their graduation photo taken, the Eighth Class girls got their first look at the quilt that will be auctioned at Chemin de Fer. Thanks to Mrs. Killeen, the mastermind behind this beautiful creation!
The Third Class presented its annual Wax Museum of famous Americans for parents in Cribbin Hall on Monday. Each student dressed as and described the notable accomplishments of the person he or she studied. Research, memorization, and presentation skills were among the valuable lessons learned. Great job, Third Class!

On Monday at 3 p.m., students will be able to meet the darling Cavachon puppy being featured at this year’s Chemin de Fer auction. Puppy lovers of all ages are invited to come to the Rose Garden for a chance to pet this adorable, soon-to-be, 16-week-old mix of a Cavalier King Charles and Bichon. Who doesn’t love a puppy?
Parents, if you can lend a helping hand with baskets or decoration setup in these final days leading up to the auction on May 2, please check the schedule on the Parent Portal. Since my communication regarding Field Day, I have had a number of you share your perspective and provide some input regarding our plans. I thank those who have e-mailed, phoned or personally chatted with Mrs. Renken or me. The conversations have been helpful and have allowed us to nuance our plans to honor all aspects of the Field Day experience. As we continue to plan for the day’s activities and events, we have especially appreciated the feedback of our oldest students. The freedom the day allows for them, as well as their participation in self-selected events, were two elements that they value and are hesitant to forgo. Given the input received, our Field Day schedule on Friday, May 8, will be:

In preparation for The Splendor of India (our upcoming Chemin de Fer auction), recently several mothers in the ASH community graciously volunteered their time—and their closets—to show others how to wear an Indian sari or salwar. What a fun night of fashion! Thanks to all who participated. We are looking forward to a beautiful evening May 2!
Our Drug Abuse Resistance Education program for Fifth Class students concluded this morning with a graduation ceremony in the White Center. D.A.R.E. Officer Hayes of the St. Charles City Police Department, along with Captain Therman, Mayor Sally Faith, and Fifth Class parents, were on hand as the students were recognized for their efforts over the past several weeks. Congratulations to the Class of 2018 on this notable day!
Because of the weather and the condition of the fields, track practice on Thursday, April 9 has been canceled.
More than 50 students, teachers and parents gathered recently before school to make sandwiches for the poor and homeless of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. More than 430 sandwiches were made in less than 40 minutes.
