We have much to celebrate! This week Mrs. Alexandra Sanchez Little ’06, Admissions Director, reflects on a successful year. From new students to new events for current and prospective families, excitement and joy are in the air!

I was so giddy for day one of school, as we welcomed 45 new students! I am elated for each new family to experience the Academy and meet all of you, our community. New families have shared that they feel welcome and that their children feel at home here, which is a testament to YOU! Thank you to our mentor families for taking time to ensure our new families understand the day-to-day along with our cherished traditions.

As I reflect with gratitude on this past year in the Admissions world, I want to share new and returning events and opportunities:

We are excited to introduce a new opportunity for families entering Little Acorns and Pre-Primary: Early Childhood Sneak Peek. If you have a child starting in either class, this event will provide an opportunity to bring your child to glimpse the world of a Little Acorn or Pre-Primary student. It gives your child their own unique experience and a chance to become familiar with the Academy and teachers before starting as a student. This is also for prospective families looking for their 3- and 4-year-olds, so please invite anyone who may be interested in our school!

Philippine’s Playgroup is a free, open opportunity on the first and third morning each month to play with peers — ages 3 and younger. This offers another opportunity for your child to become familiar with and have their own experience at ASH before they begin as a Little Acorn. I encourage you to invite any family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers who would enjoy. Recently, an Academy grandparent shared:

It’s a nice, gentle, welcoming way to introduce future Little Acorns to the Academy. My grandson enjoyed his time spent at the Playgroup. He is now a Little Acorn. On the first day of school he walked confidently into the building because he was familiar with the school and surroundings.

Finally, I am thrilled to share that 37 percent of our inquiring families this past year heard about us through word of mouth, which means you or a friend of our community. It is truly incredible that you feel proud of our Academy community and want to share that with others. When families walk these halls with me, they realize and witness your words. I feel so honored to be able to watch them connect deeply with our community and to watch your children grow as Academy students.
