As the Chemin de Fer train rounds the corner to its final stop in Germany, co-chairs Jerry and Emily Perez share their gratitude for the Academy community. We are ready to celebrate in Germany on Saturday and deeply appreciate the countless hours, incredible creativity and dedication of our committees and volunteers!
Chemin de Fer has always been more than just an auction—it’s a celebration of love, faith, and community that defines the Academy of the Sacred Heart. We first had the honor of chairing in 2022 for our daughter Ava ’22, and now, with full hearts, we’re returning as co-chairs for AJ’s graduating year.
As we reflect on our journey, one thing stands out: the incredible volunteers who welcomed us into this tradition. Their generosity, creativity, and dedication set the standard for what it means to serve this school with heart. They showed us what’s possible when people come together in support of a shared mission—and we are forever inspired by their example.
This year’s Chemin brings a festive nod to Germany—inviting us all to enjoy the warmth, camaraderie, and celebration that the theme inspires. It’s a beautiful reflection of what the Academy represents: a place where community thrives, traditions are honored, and everyone is welcomed with open arms.
Supporting the Academy means believing in a mission that nurtures not only strong minds, but strong hearts. For our family, it’s meant watching Ava and AJ grow into compassionate, capable young people. It’s meant making memories that will last a lifetime—and forming lifelong friendships with fellow parents (often while surrounded by decorations, lifts, and a lot of laughter!).
Now, with AJ graduating, this Chemin feels especially meaningful—our chance to give back in a big way to a community that has given us so much. And just as others once inspired and guided us, we hope to carry on their spirit and continue showing up for this school, wherever we’re needed. The journey doesn’t end here—it simply takes a new form.
