Commemorating the Old Gym

On June 1, the beloved Old Gym (formally known as the Boys’ Gym) will be demolished, initializing the first phase of the Capital Campaign school improvements. As a structure on campus since 1948, the Old Gym has been a place for recess, sports, Country Fair, the Haunted House, and countless other Academy events for the past 67 years. As we say goodbye to this historic building, we would like to offer a piece of the building as a memento. Beginning June 4, we will auction off a limited number of cinder blocks salvaged from the demolition process. A gold plate with the following inscription will be affixed to each cinder block to commemorate the existence of this piece of Academy history:

Academy of the Sacred Heart
Old Gym
1948-2015

Bidding for each block will start at $48. The auction will run from June 4–June 16 and will take place on the following Bidpal website: https://portal11.bidpal.net/Portal/bpe289864/main/home.html

Please note— Due to the heavy nature of this item, shipping is NOT an option. If you are an out-of-town supporter of the Academy and would like to bid on a cinder block, you must be willing to arrange pick-up of your cinder block by someone who lives in the area. Winners will be contacted after the conclusion of the auction. Proceeds will benefit Chemin de Fer 2015.
