Halls Abound with Creativity and Color

Just a few minutes ago I was invited in to the Kocs Computer Lab by Mr. Storjohann, our computer teacher, to get an early glimpse of some photographs that were taken by Middle School students who participated in our after-school photography club. I offer a couple for your review below. What our students saw and captured was amazing!

I hope that you have enjoyed the artwork that has been on display throughout the year as you come into the building. From the origami birds that contain the prayers of our students for this school year to the perspective drawings, animal collages and Wayne Thiebaud inspired cupcakes…the halls abound with creativity and color.  Mrs. Surdyke, our art teacher, has a treat in store for us all.  On Saturday, April 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Academy will host a Fine Arts Festival featuring the art of our students. This will be held in the White Center. I do hope that you will stop by and see the exhibits.

We will be hosting some new families for an Admissions Open House on that Saturday as well. I wanted to make sure that everyone was clear that the Fine Arts Festival is its own event. The show provides a great opportunity to bring your family and friends to see what your children have been doing in art class and what they have to look forward to as they grow as an artist.  The show promises to be a delight to behold, please stop by!

See you there,

Dr. Dempf
