It was a pleasure to welcome back members of the Class of ’15 for our Young Alum Chat on May 21! Each year, seniors return to talk with the Eighth Class about their high school experiences.
Madeline Hammell (Cor Jesu), Maggie Maloney (St. Joseph’s Academy), Jack Perry (SLUH), Jarrett Schneider (SLUH) and Mason Jenkins (CBC) were well prepared, engaging and insightful.
Our alums shared how the Academy had prepared them to succeed in high school and spoke about academics, activities, social life and their faith life as well as balancing added responsibilities. “The Academy gave me confidence and the ability to push myself,” said Maggie. In addition, they encouraged our soon-to-be-alums to try new things, step out of their comfort zone and continue to practice good time management skills. Madeline, who is involved in Campus Ministry, said, “Find a group to share your faith life and people who have the same goals and values.” Mason summed it up well: “Enjoy high school—one minute you walk in as a freshman, then you are leaving.”
They also shared their plans for the fall: Madeline will study studio art and communications at Saint Louis University; Maggie will be heading to the University of Kansas for architectural engineering; Jack will be studying abroad in Australia for his first semester at Creighton University and plans to major in political science; Jarrett is off to Georgetown to study linguistics; and Mason will attend the University of Missouri—Columbia where he’ll pursue a degree in computer science.
We are very proud of our alums and look forward to hearing how the next chapter of their lives unfold!
