Sixth Class Poverty Simulation

Our Sixth Class students, along with their parents, participated in a Poverty Simulation as part of the Academy’s Goal Three initiative, which states, “Schools of the Sacred Heart commit themselves to educate to a social awareness which impels to action.

Each participant in the simulation was assigned a role as a member of a family living with monetary and/or societal constraints. The students assumed the role as an adult in the family and had to figure out how to get to his or her job (if he or she had one), get the kids to school, pay for rent and bank loans, buy groceries, pay utilities and much more.

It was an eye-opening experience for everyone involved. Thank you to the Middle School faculty and for all the amazing parent support that helped to bring this experience to life for the Sixth Class!
