ALUMNI
PROFILE
Michele Drake '78
Michele Drake ’78 is a veterinarian who lives
in
Encinitas, California. Although
she still works part time in her hospital, she also does consulting
for a pharmaceutical company and for a veterinary consulting firm.
It is easy to see how the lure of the outdoors
calls Michele and her family to their place in
Mammoth
Mountain
for snowboarding in the winter and hiking and biking in the summer.
Shown here with her two sons, she reports that Matthew, left,
will begin kindergarten in the fall and Christopher will be in third
grade at
Nativity
School. “All of our Catholic
grade schools are very ‘young’ here,” she adds, “and I find
myself comparing them to my own educational experience at Sacred
Heart.”
Alumni
Congé
and
the
ROSE PHILIPPINE
DUCHESNE AWARD
A
large number of Sacred Heart alumni gathered for the yearly
Congé Reunion on Saturday, June 7. Tours of the school were
available before 5 p.m. Mass in the Shrine, followed by a
cocktail buffet reception in the Griesedieck Conference
Room.
In
celebration of the canonization of the school's foundress in
1988, the Alumni Association initiated the practice of
conferring an award on an alum who has distinguished him or
herself in areas of loyalty, service and exemplary community
involvement since graduating from the Academy. This special
degree of recognition has become an annual feature of the
spring Congé Reunion.

ALUMNI
PROJECT
Keeping Books
Academy alumni gave their full support to Adopting the
Archives, the alumni project launched in 2006. Irreplaceable
journals have been restored, and service copies and archival
DVDs of historic manuscripts made.
Several more important Archives projects are underway. Read more about Keeping Books, the
continuation of these archival efforts undertaken by alumni
during the 2007-2008 year.

AMASC
QUESTIONNAIRE
The older we get, the more we realize that the world is shrinking.
This "small world" vision is constantly occurring to us as
it did recently with an invitation from AMASC. With so many young
people traveling abroad, there are opportunities for hospitality
that can be mutually enriching. Check out the following invitation
to learn how you can stretch your Sacred Heart contacts to a world
of new friendships.
