Chess Club
Both beginner and experienced chess players in Primary through Eighth Classes have the opportunity to improve their skills in an after-school club that meets once each week for twelve weeks. Each class will consist of a fun interactive learning period followed by supervised game play. For more information about the chess program, please contact Richard Hornor at Chess America. Studies have shown that chess helps improve academic skills, while building self confidence. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!
Robotics Club
Robotics is for Middle School students who welcome the challenge of working with robots programmed to perform specific tasks. Guided by adult mentors, they solve real world engineering challenges, develop important life skills, and learn to make postivie contributions to society by programming robots from a computer to perform simple tasks. The club meets after school for ten weeks.

Model U.N.
A Model U.N. Club for MIddle School students was inaugurated in fall 2009. Researching facts, writing resolutions, trying to gain support for them, and modeling correct parliamentary procedure will be some of the activities undertaken in this club.
Simply Homemade
If your daughter loves to craft and create, then she’ll love “Simply Homemade.” This camp allows Middle School girls the chance to cook and create after school. Mandarin Chinese
Although it is from the oldest culture in human history, Mandarin Chinese is considered by many as the language of the 21st century and the language of the future. This fall, for ten consecutive Thursdays, children will be introduced to speaking, reading and writing Mandarin Chinese. The rich history and culture of “Middle-Kingdom” will also be incorporated into the curriculum through stories, songs, movies and hands-on activities. Learning this new and yet old living language will widen your child’s horizons.
Bricks 4 Kidz
This is a hands-on class in which students design and build educational models including motorized machines. Benefits include: (1) problem-solving and critical thinking skills are developed; (2) math and science concepts are explored through hands-on projects; (3) creativity and self-confidence are encouraged; (4) architecture and engineering concepts are explored; and (5) teamwork is fostered. Yoga Club
Yoga Club for kids is a practice of combining mind, body and fun while promoting strength, flexibility and body awareness. Breath and visualization techniques can teach students how to focus, relax and develop self-discipline in a non-competitive environment. Geography Club
This club is open to all students in grades 4-8 who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of physical, cultural, historical and political geography. The club will study for the National Geographic Geography Bee in January.
