Physical Education is an integral part of our curriculum and a necessary part of the total educational process. Our objective is to provide a program that allows students to develop as individuals and to adopt a healthy lifestyle in the hope that they will become physically active adults.
Our goals are for students to become competent in a variety of movements, exhibit a physically active lifestyle, and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. In addition, they will learn responsible behavior in physical activity settings and understand that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction. Activities for each grade level are designed to build upon the skills and knowledge acquired in previous years.
The Health Curriculum focuses on the concepts of personal wellness, personal fitness and healthy lifestyles. Students learn the basic principles of physical fitness, the components of health-related fitness, target heart rate, protection of the lower back, proper body mechanics, healthy food choices and more.
