The Academy is housed in a complex that includes buildings both historic and contemporary. The first brick building was completed in 1835 and is still used today. Its ground floor rooms— Philippine’s small room, several parlors, and the Shrine gift shop—have been historically preserved and are open for visitors.
Subsequent additions have resulted in a rambling complex of buildings that have been beautifully maintained through the years. Situated between the Main Street/downtown/riverfront areas of St. Charles and neighboring Frenchtown, the Academy occupies one square city block bordered by Fourth, Decatur, Second and Clark Streets. Our ten-acre campus includes:
- 32 classrooms
- Science wing with two state-of-the-art labs
- Library/reference and study area/media center
- Two technology labs for Lower School and Upper School students, as well as in-classroom PC learning centers for Primary students
- Assembly room
- Multi-purpose wing with two gymnasiums, cafeteria and Lower School play area, three soccer fields and two playgrounds
- Shrine of St. Philippine Duchesne
The school grounds are enhanced by seasonal flowers and landscaping maintained with great care by school personnel and volunteers alike.
